Stellar Silver Fox Performance
Last nite, my Fifth grade class gave their first performance on their instruments.
They even worked hard enough to be able to play with the bows (which I have realized is no easy feat for beginners). I was so proud, I could barely keep a straight face while I conducted them.
I now understand what their parents go through everytime accomplish something new...PRIDE.
Well, the kids kept time (no rushing) sat-up straight in their chairs, and all eyes were on me. We even had a student guest conduct for the encore piece (The Darth Vader Theme, arr. Mary Hoyt) Lauren Miles.
Of course there were some blips of drama on the nite. One rather graceful student dropped (actually I think it was shot off by a cannon) his violin and the fingerboard separated from the instrument. I didn't loose it, but just instructed him to play in guitar position. (good ol' guitar position, works everytime)
But it all worked out and now I can definitely sleep easier at nite.
Sooo,
one performance down, one more to go.
School is almost over....and I'm looking forward to it. ;-)
